India’s worker productivity trails China by $30k, gap widening
Equirus Securities finds India’s labour productivity per worker is now over $30,000 lower than China’s, a gap that has grown since 2000 despite three‑fold GDP‑per‑worker growth. Structural constraints, policy disruptions and the pandemic have stalled a manufacturing‑led productivity leap, leaving services‑driven gains uneven and the manufacturing share of GDP stagnant.
