DOE unveils Genesis Open Models to accelerate scientific AI research
The Department of Energy announced the Genesis Open Models initiative, releasing its first open‑weight foundation model, Genesis‑Science‑1, built with Arcee AI. By sharing model weights and data pipelines, DOE aims to give labs and researchers free, transparent AI tools for materials, energy, climate and other scientific fields. Applications to contribute open models are due Aug 14 2026.
