Russia eyes rail corridor to India to dodge Hormuz and Bosphorus risks
Deputy prime minister Marat Khusnullin said Russia will study a rail line through Turkmenistan, Iran and Afghanistan that reaches the Indian Ocean, sidestepping the Bosphorus and Strait of Hormuz. The move dovetails with booming Russia‑India energy trade and under‑used corridors like the INSTC and Chabahar port, giving Moscow a land‑based export lifeline.
