GitLab stops duplicate vulnerability tickets after code reformatting
GitLab’s updated Scope+Offset fingerprint now ignores comments and blank lines, so a simple reformat or comment addition no longer creates a new vulnerability record. In a benchmark of 2,247 comment-only commits across seven languages, duplicate alerts dropped to zero and overall fingerprint count fell 43%. The change ships as the scope_offset_compressed algorithm in GitLab’s security scanners.
