X open-sources its ‘For You’ ranking engine, adds transparency tool
X has pushed the entire ‘For You’ recommendation stack to GitHub under an Apache 2.0 licence, exposing the retrieval, filtering and transformer‑based ranking code that decides what appears in users’ feeds. A companion transparency dashboard now shows aggregate label data so anyone can see if their account or posts are being down‑ranked or hidden, raising accountability for the platform’s moderation.
