GIFT City regulator moves to turn GPU leasing into a financial product
IFSCA proposes notifying operating leases of GPUs and connected data-centre equipment as a financial product at GIFT City, extending its aircraft- and ship-leasing playbook to AI compute. The target: an estimated $23 billion investment to deploy up to 700,000 GPUs in India over five years, with the country holding under 5% of global AI-optimised compute.
