A developer solved an impossible geolocation puzzle by brute-forcing all of Earth's coastline
Refusing to use Google Lens, this writeup geolocates a random island from a drone photo by extracting a triangle fingerprint of three landmasses, then screening all 141k tropical coastline polygons with heuristic filters and CUDA-accelerated geometry. A great showcase of turning an intractable search into a tractable pipeline.
