AI exploit scripts now target the PLCs that run America's water and power
Five U.S. agencies issued a joint advisory calling out an active threat against Siemens S7 series PLCs, the controllers that run pumps in water, energy and manufacturing plants. Attackers are using AI-generated exploit scripts, disguised as legitimate monitoring tools, to probe internet-exposed devices and build the capability to physically disrupt operations. The agencies say AI is dramatically lowering the skill and time needed to weaponize industrial systems, so this is no longer just theory.
