OpenTelemetry isn't going well: a spreadsheet names the structural cause
Fed up with the vague sense that something is wrong in OTel-land, Mat Duggan built a spreadsheet to audit the observability standard. His diagnosis: a binary stability gate, a thin bench of maintainers, and an enormous scope of languages create a system where features stay "experimental" forever and arguing beats shipping. That is a structural problem, not a perception one, and smaller teams are the ones paying for it. The data makes the case far better than the anecdotes do.
