Favicons vanishing from Google Search — confirmed as a Google bug, not yours
Over the past week, complaints spiked across Google's help forum and X as favicons disappeared from Search snippets — some sites showing the generic globe icon despite valid, crawlable favicon files. Site owners scrambled to debug their own setups, but when LinkedIn lost its favicon too, it was clearly Google's end. Google has since confirmed the bug and says a fix is being worked out. If your favicon vanishes, don't touch your site files just yet.
