SiFive's BigSky: the RISC-V server that's "boring" on purpose
Chips & Cheese tears down SiFive's first real server platform, the BigSky SF-2U870: a standard 2U box with 32 P870-D cores at 2.2 GHz, 256 GB DDR5, and 64 lanes of PCIe 5.0. Its quiet selling point is RVA23 support, letting Ubuntu 26.04 run out of the box — a first for the ecosystem. The verdict: deliberately unremarkable hardware that actually just works, which is exactly what developers need.
