SC orders Centre to scrutinise firms pulling EPFO and ITR data from just a PAN
India's Supreme Court has told the Union to investigate and rein in a "commercial technological ecosystem" in which private verification firms exploit EPFO/UAN and PAN-linked records — allegedly letting a single PAN pull a person's employment history with no OTP or consent. The bench called the access "worrisome" and gave the government four months to respond. A clear test of where legitimate verification ends and intrusion begins.
