Uber fined €825M for auto-suspending drivers with no human review
The Dutch regulator hit Uber with an €825M (≈$966M) fine — the EU's second-largest GDPR penalty — because its algorithms deactivated driver accounts without meaningful human oversight. This is the third fine to stem from one group of drivers, whose organizer now plans a class action. Stake for builders: purely automated decisions with real-world consequences now carry hard legal costs.
