For a week, Ox Alpha topped OpenRouter's usage charts as an anonymous free reasoning model for coding and agent work. Now Z.AI (Zhipu) has confirmed to Bloomberg it's a new GLM-series iteration — and said it would release the weights that night. That turns a hosted preview into a checkable, self-hostable artifact, pending the license terms. Community fingerprinting had already pointed at GLM's tokenizer; this is the company's first confirmation.
