Ex-DeepMinders launch nonprofit betting humans stay essential to AI oversight
Rishub Jain and Josh Jacob left Google DeepMind to found Sampura Research, a nonprofit carrying their Human-AI Complementarity agenda for scalable oversight, seeded with $11M from Coefficient Giving. Their first push is "better judges": a leaderboard of 20+ subdatasets testing models on deception, bias, and unsafe actions. The bet is that even as AI surpasses humans on many tasks, humans stay complementary enough to anchor evaluation instead of being fully replaced by LLM judges.
