A 2B open model is punching above its weight
Small models usually trade capability for convenience. OpenBMB’s MiniCPM5-2B is challenging that bargain, scoring 15 on Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v4.2, reportedly the highest result among open-weight models at 4B parameters or below. The Hugging Face release includes ready paths for Transformers, vLLM, SGLang, and Docker, making the benchmark result easier to test locally rather than admire from a leaderboard.
