Instagram will demote AI personas that hide they are synthetic
The reach penalty is the point: undisclosed AI personas will be excluded from recommendations to non-followers in Reels and Explore, cutting off the discovery loop that makes synthetic influencers valuable. Instagram is renaming its “AI creator” label to “AI-generated profile” and says creators can appeal mistaken flags. The policy targets profiles built around fake people, not ordinary posts made with AI tools.
