AI scrapers burn 14 CPU cores on Linux kernel hosting
The Linux kernel’s Git hosting is spending more CPU rendering commit pages for scrapers than serving every legitimate access path combined, including git clones. Across five nodes, 14 cores are permanently tied up generating HTML for bots that can enumerate billions of duplicate URLs across 922 forks. The uncomfortable lesson for public infrastructure: making data openly cloneable does not stop crawlers from choosing the most expensive possible route.
