A mapped fly brain still cannot learn the game
A 166,700-neuron fly connectome can run inside a game, but that is not the same as learning to play it. The project’s audit exposes the missing pieces: inferred sensory inputs, hand-assigned motor outputs, artificial reward signals, and plasticity rules layered onto a wiring diagram. Its negative results are the useful part, showing exactly where a connectome simulation stops being a biological model and becomes an engineered controller.
