AI firms admit cyber defense cannot stay a solo sport
The companies building increasingly capable AI are warning that ordinary security playbooks will not scale against AI-enabled attacks. OpenAI’s open letter, signed by more than 100 organizations including Anthropic, Google, and Microsoft, calls for three moves: recognize the shrinking defense window, put cyber-capable AI in more defenders’ hands, and share intelligence and protections across sectors. The awkward part is the point: the firms creating the new attack surface now need collective defense to contain it.
