A website can now make AI agents pay before they crawl
Most publisher compensation for AI use is a black box. This working x402 experiment flips the model: the page returns HTTP 402, an agent pays one cent in USDC, and access unlocks with a public transaction receipt. Five testnet payments settled, including one triggered by a Claude Code hook, showing what machine-readable, pay-per-fetch content could look like before ordinary crawlers grow wallets.
