OpenAI will disclose misalignment before it understands it
OpenAI is replacing ad hoc misalignment disclosures with a standing process for tracking, investigating, and publishing concerning model behavior, including cases it has not fully explained or mitigated. The first release includes six reports from the past six months. The important shift is procedural: evidence can become public before a neat safety story exists, giving outside researchers and policymakers more raw material to test safeguards and spot recurring failures.
