Google Home now lets AI agents inspect and control your smart home
Google Home Premium Advanced subscribers can connect an MCP-compatible AI client to their smart home, letting it read device states, review event history, and run supported commands instead of merely answering questions. The Home MCP server acts as a proxy: the agent discovers the home and devices, then calls tools to query telemetry or issue actions. Setup requires a Google Cloud project, Home API access, and OAuth credentials, while rate limits and safeguards block sensitive actions such as unlocking doors.
