Habit-forming agents repeat tasks reliably, but repeat mistakes too
A proposed “skill habit” system made a text-to-SQL agent reproduce every one of 456 repeated dispatches, giving buyers and auditors a much more predictable tool while using 14% to 56% fewer tokens. It mines execution history for deterministic skills, runs them on the inputs they claim, and sends the rest to normal reasoning. The tradeoff is serious: it admitted 26% of inputs near its decision boundary, and deterministic errors repeat as reliably as correct answers.
