AI-generated protein designs can now carry an imperceptible, verifiable watermark while keeping their biological function, giving researchers a way to track provenance and strengthen biosecurity. SynthID Bio embeds the mark in protein sequences and predicted 3D structures; laboratory tests across target proteins found watermarked designs matched unwatermarked versions on performance and natural diversity.
