AI giants promise audits, but Trump keeps safeguards voluntary
OpenAI, Meta, Google, Anthropic, xAI, and Nvidia have promised to monitor frontier AI models and use independent auditors, but the new safeguards are voluntary, leaving companies to police themselves. Each company will appoint internal teams to check that controls work and fix problems, then meet to develop safety standards. The accord does not say who will conduct third-party evaluations, and only says the measures may later become law.
