Periodic Neon lets materials labs learn from every experiment

Periodic Labs has deployed Periodic Neon, a 1T-parameter model, in its physical labs so scientists can use each experiment to improve the next one. The system reads X-ray diffraction results, a way to identify what material was made, then feeds that analysis into a loop covering target selection, synthesis, and verification. Periodic says Neon outperforms Claude Fable 5.1 and GPT-6 Astra on diffraction analysis, using its own lab data and relatively little compute.
