Hard spending caps are becoming essential for agent-powered services
Usage-based APIs need hard monthly caps by default, or a runaway coding or personal agent could keep spending while you sleep and turn a small project into a much larger bill. The proposed safeguard is simple: once usage reaches $X, the service stops and returns errors, instead of merely sending a warning. AWS now pauses projects that hit a monthly spend limit, while Google Cloud offers caps for specific services, though AWS says its rollout is still limited.
