Kolibri puts German-English reasoning on open Apache 2.0 weights
Aleph Alpha’s Kolibri 1 gives developers an Apache 2.0 German-English reasoning model with tool calling and a 1,048,576-token context ceiling. Its mixture-of-experts design has 78 billion total parameters but activates 3.46 billion per token, while the model card recommends staying at or below 262,144 tokens for efficient serving and complex tasks. Running it requires roughly 78 GB of FP8 model memory, with at least two A100 80 GB GPUs or equivalent.
