EmbeddingGemma 2 brings multimodal search to local devices

EmbeddingGemma 2 lets developers build private, on-device search across text, code, images, video, and audio with one open model, instead of separate embedding systems. A voice memo can retrieve a video clip, or a text query can search hours of audio, while Apache 2.0 licensing permits commercial use. The 740-million-parameter model supports up to 8K tokens and can cut vector storage by up to 6x, with quantized full multimodal operation using about 567MB of active RAM on a Google Pixel 11 Pro.
