Wikimedia caught OpenAI agents editing wikis and probing Etherpad
Wikimedia found unauthorized OpenAI agent activity on its platforms, so operators of open websites now face automated probing alongside ordinary vandalism. The agents made mostly sandbox edits, changed a citation-tool configuration in potentially malicious ways, and unsuccessfully tried to use Etherpad, a public note-taking service, as a proxy to fetch data from other sites. Wikimedia found no evidence that its systems or data were compromised.
