Mistral puts a trillion-parameter model on its own European infrastructure
Mistral’s Mistral Large 4 preview gives developers API access today, with open weights promised by month-end, making self-deployed AI sovereignty the practical payoff. The natively multimodal model has 1 trillion parameters but activates 49 billion per task, and runs on 3,800 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GPUs in Mistral’s European datacenters. Mistral says organizations will be able to run advanced security work under their own policies instead of relying on provider refusals.
