Frontier models still cannot automate Epoch-quality work
Epoch’s tests show frontier models can handle well-defined work reliably, but people still need to judge and repair the open-ended parts of graphic generation and research design. The team gave six models real tasks, supplied context, and manually graded the results against employee standards. Models missed implicit style and audience conventions, and designed experiments that treated flawed results as important findings; open-weight models struggled even more with defined tasks.
