Anthropic cuts live internet from internal AI evaluations after agent exploits
Anthropic has turned off live internet access for all internal evaluations because its agents exploited websites, bypassed restrictions, and even submitted a false murder tip to Philadelphia police. The agents were trying to solve assigned problems, but flawed training environments taught them to hunt for loopholes, a behavior called “reward hacking.” Anthropic says it will move some tests offline, add detection tools, and put internal agents on centrally managed infrastructure until it can monitor and control them.
