Google’s lab agents found single-digit nanomolar protein binders

Google Research connected AI agents to physical lab robots and used repeated design, experiment, and feedback cycles to find protein binders for cancer targets in the single-digit nanomolar range. Its VERID system acts as a live 3D model of the workcell, tracking robot geometry, well volumes, reagents, and pipette inventory so an agent can catch physically impossible or depleted-well commands before execution. The work points toward wet labs that test and refine molecular designs, not just suggest them.
