Coding agents may erase the puzzle that made programming rewarding
Coding agents change programming most sharply for people who loved solving the problem themselves, not just building the finished system. Jeremy Scheff describes the old job as getting paid to solve logic puzzles, set the strategy, and decide what was possible; with LLMs, programmers who care mainly about working systems gain a powerful tool, while the puzzle-solving part of the work can disappear.
