Open RFD4-Proteina designs working proteins five to 10 times faster than earlier models
The UW Medicine Institute for Protein Design and NVIDIA released RFD4-Proteina, an open generative model for designing new proteins. Like language models that can think longer, it spends more computation on hard problems, refining a protein's sequence and structure together with the molecules it must bind. On computational benchmarks it reached fivefold to tenfold higher design success rates, and lab tests confirmed its designs behaved as expected.
