Real-time speech recognition errors range 2.1× across 16 learner accent groups
Fluently streamed 22.2 hours of unscripted answers from 2,042 English learners to 21 real-time speech-to-text systems. Scribe v2 Realtime at 5.4% word error rate and MAI-Transcribe-2 at 5.6% are statistically tied for first. For the median system, errors range from 6.2% for German speakers to 12.8% for Vietnamese speakers. Streaming adds a median 1.4 points over the same model run offline, and more for beginners.
