India's telecom regulator proposes making telcos report serious AI incidents to it
TRAI's draft guidelines would make telecom operators classify each AI system as high, medium or low risk, under an internal AI policy approved by their board. Every AI incident would get a severity rating, and critical- and high-severity incidents, including material malfunctions and recurring failures, would be reported to TRAI. Operators would stay accountable for AI systems they buy from third parties. The draft is open for public comment.
